Partnering for a beautiful future!

Public art can help people feel a sense of belonging and pride in their community. It can also help people understand where they live, work, and visit.

In an attempt to promote art in our community, this year’s project was to partner with the Clatskanie Arts Commission and a handful of volunteer local artists to help complete their mural project which began in 2022. Clatskanie Bloom provided the financial assistance needed to finish the Raymond Carver mural located on the building in which Carver was born. The south facing wall of the old medical building located on N. Nehalem Street in Clatskanie depicts a design by Dylan Eckland in which Raymond Carver hauntingly overlooks the town. On one side, a view of Beaver Falls and on the other, an excerpt from his poem “Where Water Comes Together With Other Water”. Above is the postcard that was created, after the mural was completed, to help inform people about the mural and Raymond Carver.
